Mitchell K. Crook was born and raised in the town of Puyallup, Washington, where he is a proud alumnus of Emerald Ridge High School. During his time there, he had the opportunity to participate in the Running Start program, which allowed him to earn an associate of art degree at the time of graduating high school in 2015.
After high school, he continued his educational pursuits at Eastern Washington University. In 2017, where he earned his bachelor's degree in political science and minors in economics and Spanish, with honors. During this time is when he learned there was more to Washington than just Western Washington!
Following Eastern Washington University, Mitchell wanted to pursue a law degree and become a trial attorney. Although Washington is and will always be his home, Mitchell wanted to attend law school in another part of the United States—Texas. He was fortunate enough to be awarded a full-ride academic scholarship to Texas A&M University School of Law.
During his time in law school, he had the privilege of interning for Judge Elizabeth Beach at the Tim Curry Criminal Justice Center in Fort Worth, Texas. This invaluable experience involved reviewing writs of habeas corpus, including those related to death penalty cases. Following his internship, he worked as a law clerk at a staple law firm in Fort Worth, Texas, the Joeckel Law Office, where he assisted the principal attorney with personal injury, employment, and insurance cases in both Texas state and federal courts.
In 2021, he successfully completed his law degree, marking a significant milestone in his journey. He then took and passed the Uniform Bar Examination and obtained licenses to practice law in both Washington and Texas. He then joined the Joeckel Law Office as an associate attorney in 2021. In this role, he handled personal injury, employment, and insurance cases in Texas state and federal district courts. Additionally, he gained valuable appellate experience in the Texas Court of Appeals and Texas Supreme Court.
Although Texas was a great experience, Washington had a grip on Mitchell. After a year at the Joeckel Law Office, he made the heartfelt decision to return to Washington and be closer to his family. He settled in Pasco as he was tired of the traffic in Western Washington. He accepted a position as a deputy prosecutor with the Franklin County Prosecutor's Office in 2022. As a deputy prosecuting attorney, he handled criminal cases in District Court, Juvenile Court, and Superior Court, ranging from DUI, felony assault, sex crimes, and vehicular homicide.
Following his time at the Franklin County Prosecutor's Office, he was honored to join the renowned Johnson & Orr Law Firm as an associate attorney. Since joining the firm, he has dedicated himself to defending individuals charged with misdemeanors and felonies in Washington state and federal courts. His cases have covered a wide range of offenses, including simple assault, DUI, drug offenses, gun offenses, sex offenses, and homicides.
